Freakenomics Introduction

Introduction

Crime, abortion, and children are all talked about within the introduction. I will explain what I learned about these three things while reading this book and how they relate to each other in the next couple of paragraphs.

Well with crime, it was increasingly getting worse. Gun violence, car jacking, crack dealing and other horrible crimes were being done on a higher rate and was mostly caused by teens. Everyone thought that it was going to get worse in the years to come but instead it got better. The rate fell more than fifty percent.

Abortion use to be illegal. Norma McCorvey fought for it to be legalized and because of her efforts it became legalized. Experts believe that the legalization of abortion has made crime rate go down.

Children are considered to be born unequal. The ones born in an adverse environment is more likely to become criminals than other kids born in a normal environment. The adversity that is talked about would be poor, unmarried teens.

So these three topics are all related because according to researchers if abortion wasn't legalized, crime rate would be increasing if children were born in an adverse environment. Abortion would take away the potential criminals by making them non-existent.
